In Innocence explores the narrow space between innocence, guilt and the desire for inner cleansing. Its starting point is the familiar gesture of washing one’s hands of responsibility — shifted here through gloves that prevent direct contact while also acting as substitutes for the absent body.
I am interested in the idea that purity is not only physical, but something we assign to ourselves. What can truly be washed away, and what is merely kept at a distance? The work leaves open where innocence ends and avoidance begins.
